Things I Learned, Things I’ll miss

You know you’re not in the good old US of A when you say the words “peanut butter and jelly sandwich” to someone and they look at you like you have two heads.  Or how about “I’m going to iron my pants” and they look at you funny for a moment?
This was my experience last year when I went to stay with my Husband, boyfriend at the time, in England for 4 months.

This is My Life

This is my life.  Packed up, stuffed into suit cases and boxes and…being stored at my parent’s house :-)

It's almost moving day!!!

First...I have just seen that I have TWO followers!!  Woohoo!  Now I feel bad for having not written for SO long!!  :-)  But just a little ;-)

Now...for those of you who don't know already: in June I married a wonderful man who happens to be  a Brit and I am moving to England!

American Idol – The Next American Idol

Oh it’s gonna big!!!

American Idol….FINALE! part 1

Last AI blog of the season!  And possibly ever considering next season I’ll be in England, Simon won’t be on the show…and this season, as much as I’ve had contestants I’ve loved, just didn’t seem to have the same spark as past seasons.  So perhaps next year you’ll be reading all about X Factor or Britian’s got talent!!

American Idol – Top 3

It’s exciting times.  Top 3 is always exciting.  I can’t believe the finale is next week!  Well…that just means I can get back to blogging about things people might actually be interested in ;)  (other than my loving, loyal fiancé of course!)

American Idol Elimination Night

Top 4...and soon three.  My pick to go would be Mike...even though I like him.  I am nervous tonight.  I really want Lee and Crystal to stay.

American Idol Top 4

Movie and Duet Night
Oooh!  Duets!  What did I say?  Wasn’t I just saying I wanted a Crystal/Lee duet?  I hope they do it!
And movie night should at least have good songs, but it definitely has potential to be cheesy or just plain bad.

Harry Connick Jr. Part 2!!!!!

Or....American Idol Results Night :-)

So…I heard that the contestants were not allowed to use guitars last night.  Which I think is complete crap.  The judges are always saying make it current, make it your own…but on Sinatra night they basically don’t give them any liberties whatsoever.  Crap, people, crap!

Anyway…tonight we have Harry Connick Jr. performing (YAY!!!!!) and Lady Gaga.  I have to say…I enjoy Lady’s songs…but she is a piece of work.  I watched the Telephone video with Beyoncé…and apparently Lady Gaga makes everyone kind of strange…

American Idol – Harry Connick Jr!!

It’s Harry Connick night!!!!!!  Yay!  So exciting!  Hopefully I can hear the music accurately through my ear infection…Stephanie is not feeling so hot tonight.

Sir Anthony Hopkins was spotted in the audience…interesting!  Go Sir Tony!
Ok…so this is an exciting night for me because I love Harry Connick Jr, I love his song style, his voice (speaking and singing) and I love Sinatra (although I have to say I’m a bigger Dino fan).  So I’m all KINDS of excited!!

By the way…I write this as I watch it, so your getting my reactions AS I’m having them!  :-)

American Idol – Top 6

It’s Shania Twain night!! Canadian accent and all! I do have to say, I’m a Shania fan. I like her songs…they’re so darn catchy and fun. And she seems like she is really nice and would be fun to hang out with. She was pretty goofy during her guest judge appearance during auditions.

Let’s get right to it:

American Idol – Idol Gives Back!

It’s rough…and late…and a lot…sorry! There was a lot to take in this night and I didn’t have time to edit except for tonight…so here you go, forgive me:

American Idol Top 7 – Idol Gives Back Week

It’s long…sorry! And I came to the delightful realization that the few people I KNOW read this, don’t watch Idol…so you can’t disagree with me cause you didn’t see it…therefore, everything I say is right :-D

about Idol...

I watch American Idol.

There I said it. There are two reality shows I watch...American Idol and Project Runway.

And there is a blogger that I always read to see what she has to say about the show and normally I agree with her or at least can see where she's coming from. But this year I just don't agree with much she says. And I feel so strongly about it...I've decided I'll just blog about it myself!

…about planning ahead.

So...I got an iPod (can I just say that spell check knows the exact correct way to spell iPod? I forgot to capitalize the P and was corrected…) for my birthday (thanks Baby!!) and decided to go the the Apple store to get a nifty case to protect my new little toy...
(Side Notes: 1) Perhaps I shouldn’t have gone the day the iPad came out, however…the store was very well organized with a line outside for ipad purchases and the rest of us able to roam freely to buy anything else. 2) I was standing in the middle of the store with my purchase, trying to figure out where exactly to go to pay for it, and a sales woman came up to me and asked if I was ready to check out (I was) and whipped out an ipod touch and rang me up right there...in the middle of the store! No line…no cash register…no counter…it was awesome! ANYWAY, I digress…)
I would like to now take you on short journey of what I found when I opened my brand new iPod case:

...about plans.

April 2, 2010

I just celebrated my 28th Birthday.

28.

2-8

Twenty-eight....

Yikes.

2 years until 30!

I know 30 is suppose to be a really important Birthday, but 28 seems like a really big one...a huge mile marker because it's ten years after High School. This time ten years ago I had Senioritis and couldn't wait to be out and enjoying my summer before going off to college!

Blasts from the past...

Tonight I saw some old friends. Some who I saw a few weeks ago...some I haven't seen in YEARS. And it was good. And I was good.

There was a time...not so long ago...when I yearned for yester-year. I wanted to go back...I wanted to change my path, "fix" some things, change my decisions. I wasn't so much living in the past as just wanting to go BACK to the past. I left my place to soon.

I loved college...I loved the town, the creativity, the people...I was surrounded by really close friends...and for a very long time I wanted it all back. I knew of course that I couldn't go back. Even if I went to the same place geographically...it had changed. 5 seconds after I left it had changed. Especially this town. It's a college town...constantly moving and changing...formed by the people there...even the time of year. It would never be the same...even while I was there no two years were the same...each had it's own unique personality as the people changed and I changed. I was different every year...slowing moving toward the woman I would become.

The thing about Freedom...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100207/ap_on_el_ge/us_palin_s_people

Oh Sarah Palin, Sarah Palin, Sarah Palin.

Ok, so I don't usually like discussing religion or politics...especially when someone might share a different view than I do. It's not that I'm not open minded or I refuse to consider a view that's not my own, I just don't like debate. I'm no good at it and I don't like arguing, I don't like confrontation. And sometimes I have a hard time of it because I can actually see where both sides are coming from and understand both of their points. Plus...the few things I feel strongly about...I feel REALLY strongly about. It really upsets me when people want to push their beliefs on others...I'm a "can't we all just get along?" kind of girl.

But seriously. Come on! Sometimes a girl has to ruffle a few feathers. And after reading this article...this is one of those sometimes.

Taking Shape

So in my last post I made a reference to clay...I think it's a great metaphor for life in general. You shape your life like you might shape clay. You see a vision and you try to create it with the clay...sometimes you get it just right, sometimes you fail...and sometimes it turns out nothing like you envisioned and yet...you unexpectedly create something amazing and beautiful that you never intended to...a mistake becomes a beautiful and interesting work of art. I bet museums are full of wondrous mistakes!

I'm back....

So...I took quite a long hiatus from writing...and so soon after I started! Not that anyone reads this. I started this for me and, especially at this point, I'm the only one who reads it. I haven't gotten up the courage to share this with anyone. I mentioned that I was starting this to a couple of people, but never actually told them where to find my blog :-)
